Process

The design team was given a written overview of the content for the motion graphic. From there, the team drafted a script for a 60-second motion graphic and a corresponding storyboard. Once the script and storyboard were approved by the stakeholder, the storyboard was rendered in stills for animation.

Style

The motion graphic was an introduction for the Open Enrollment curriculum, so it adhered to the existing style guide.

Story

The video is shown at the beginning of an eLearning curriculum for customer service representatives. The goal of the video is to help representatives see callers as individuals and not become ambivalent. To this end, every person shown in the video has a name, background, and story that isn't shared until later. While the viewer at first only sees each character briefly and without context, later in the curriculum each character is re-encountered and introduced with a name, story, and audio. This allows the video's message to be reinforced throughout the curriculum.
